Fractions working out

Here is my fraction working out. My maths teacher Mrs Ilaoa had given my group and I a maths task about fractions. We had to see which fractions are bigger than the other by multiplying and dividing it. 2/6 and 3/10. So what we have to do is now figure out how to see which one is greater than the other. So we do: 6 x 10 = 60, 60 ÷ 10 = 6. Then: 1/6 = 10, 2/6 = 20, and so on. I think you've got the hang of it so I won't go on but you get thy idea.

Language features

This here is a google drawing image that I did. It is about language features. We read the text called "The whale child" Click here to read the text. So in this task I had to describe what the text really meant like- The waves were like giant glass towers... So then I had to write down what it really meant. This story was interesting and really hooked me in. I hope this does the same for you.

A Piece of paradise

This here is about how rain helps plants to grow and how the sun helps as well. Well I have explained in my own words about how the rain and sun help plants to grow. I am going to tell you one thing about it. So water is valuable and that we shouldn't waste it. It helps crops to grow like for example farms. I hope this helps you know a little about how the rain and sun help plants. Please leave some feedback and tell me what I should've add or what I can fix up.

Think-board

This here is my think-board. I had to solve out what 5.3 - 1.746 was. In the middle is the question with my answer 3.646, the box above is how I solved it, the box on the right is telling you what strategy I used, the box at the bottom is a word problem that I had to write and the box on the left is other ways to solve it. So that's why there are multiple boxes.

A splendid day at the polyfest

This is my story about my first time going to the polyfest. It was amazing and I really enjoyed it. I am pretty sure that everyone else who went had a good time too. If you want to find out my favorite highlights and what I enjoyed then read on for more.

One highlight is about the Maori stage. The Maori stage was fantastic. There were stalls to buy shirts that relate to Maori, stalls with Maori taonga (pendant) and a place where you could get a moko(a girl in our class kept on saying modo). Food stalls and so much more.

My second highlight was travelling around to explore a lot of amazing things that was happening. My favorite part about exploring was getting a moko because that brought out the true Maori part in you. With a moko was great and that was my favorite part about exploring every stall.

My third highlight about the polyfest was watching the performances. Really it was only the Maori stage that had the most performances but there were other stages that mostly had talking based on their culture. The importance about polyfest is that it’s a competition for all colleges to express themselves and show everyone about their culture. Polyfest is a cultural competition that happens every year.

Going to the polyfest was my first time and my first time was the most amazing thing ever. Also a huge thanks to Dezarae’s aunt Leslie for looking after us on a fantastic trip and a huge thanks to all the other parent helpers who came along and looked after our wonderful tamariki. So that’s my story about my first time going to polyfest. Enjoy.

The kete-tuauri which held the knowledge of ritual, memory and prayer
and the kete-tuatea which contained knowledge of evil or makutu, which was harmful to mankind.

Review about the movie Hidden Figures

How awesome it was to go and see the movie Hidden Figures for the year 7 and 8 extension group. It was amazing because I had gotten the best seats in the theater. About hidden figures: Hidden figures is  a movie about 3 African American ladies that had proven themselves to the world that black people are not mean or thieves and that the can be useful.

At the movies we bought some popcorn, lollies and drinks. While we were waiting we were watching the movie trailers that were playing on the big screen that everyone could see when the walked into the movies. Finally it hit 10:40 and the doors to go inside the theater were open.  It was only the extension group and quit a few of elderly men and women behind us.

As it was my first time watching Hidden Figures was great. I thought that the movie was going to be boring as I don't really like documentary or things about N.A.S.A (no offense). I thought wrong about the movie Hidden Figures. Once we walked out of the cinema's, I was so unhappy that I couldn't just go back and watch it.

Review- Hidden figures movie review- Likes: What I liked about the movie was when they had made it into space and was ready to go to the moon. Also I liked that all the racism and hate to black people was over, thanks to mathematician Katherine Johnson, aspiring engineer Mary Jackson and unofficial supervisor Dorothy Vaughan. Dislikes: What I didn't like about it was that all the racism that spread to all the white people.

My Water Cycle Animation

Kia Ora, nau mai haere mai. This is he blg post about my animation. My animation is about the water cycle. We did this in term 1 and we had to study about the water cycle and how water was created and so on. So enjoy my animation.

Alphabet multiplication

WALT -  Understand the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages.

This is a a alphabet multiplication google drawing. Each letter in the alphabet has a number. So for example, if you spell "cool" then you have to look to see what letter has what number. E.g - C= 3, O=15, O=15 and L=12. So you have to multiply all those numbers and see what you get. So that's what alphabet multiplication is.
